One year ago The Men in Red were having a fairly successful preseasons and things looked up going into the regular season. It all took a turn for the worse once games started to actually matter. This should bring a word of caution to Fire fans. Yes, we beat Philly. Yes, we looked kinda good doing it. Unfortunately this means nothing. Everything that we are seeing right now only tells us that we have potential but there are still pieces missing. Who is our right back, Johan?
Looking at the roster below we have a solid front line but this year it is the backline that has no depth and this means we should expect a lot of playing people out of position. Im talking Collin Fernandez at left back, that happened. I fully expect that to never happen again but doing that even in preseason shows the lack of depth on the defensive right now.
In the end, Chicago came away with the 1-0 win off of a de Leeuw pair of headers that eventually found the back of the net. There were many more times that The Fire went at goal but failed to convert. Most notably was an Arshakyan shot from a few feet out that went straight at the waiting keeper, get em next time kid.
